Maya Reports Significant IP Anomalies on Amizmiz Property, Morocco
Montreal, Quebec, September 17, 2009 – MAYA GOLD & SILVER (TSX-V: MYA) is pleased to report the results of recently completed magnetic and IP (induced polarisation) surveys on its Amizmiz gold and silver project in Morocco. Significant IP anomalies have been identified and will be high-priority targets for its 7,500-metre drill program planned to commence by the end of this month.
Magnetic and IP surveys were recently conducted over an area of 6 square-kilometres on the Amizmiz property. The surveys were run over 50 metre-spaced GPS surveyed lines. The IP survey was very successful in locating and mapping out known gold mineralizations and has indicated the presence of several significant anomalies.
The IP survey was able to detect and confirm the recently reported Au-rich zones TR and TRN and their extensions. The geophysical surveys and preliminary mapping were also able to identify, in the eastern portion of the grid, which is believed to be a major complex gold system. The IP anomaly outlines a large area of chargeability measuring 1,450 metres by 250 metres.
This large IP anomaly is located in a depression area covered by mountain debris. Preliminary prospecting off the west flank of this anomaly identified gold-bearing quartz and sulfide veinlets in chlorite schist similar to the mineralization found at the T zone. All of the 7 samples collected returned respectable gold values: 0.30, 0.89, 1.22, 1.67, 2.29, 3.45 and 13.32 g/t Au. Furthermore, this large IP anomaly corresponds almost exactly with an airborne potassium radiometric anomaly that can indicate intense potassic alteration associated with mineralizing fluids.
The $2 million exploration program will intensify later this month when the two drill rigs now in Morocco will be deployed on the property.
